Here’s an in-depth look at our mission and operations at Green Street Books:

At Green Street Books, we are dedicated to creating a supportive and inclusive work environment that empowers individuals with intellectual and developmental challenges. In today’s world, these individuals are often referred to as ‘Neurodiverse,’ and they are an integral part of our vibrant community. Our core philosophy revolves around fostering their talents and abilities, allowing them to thrive and contribute meaningfully to our team.

One of the hallmarks of our approach is the way we function as a cohesive unit. Our team operates as a tightly-knit ensemble, with each member shining within their own unique area of expertise and responsibility. This collaborative approach ensures that everyone’s skills are utilized effectively, promoting a sense of accomplishment and camaraderie among all employees.

Recognizing the importance of fair compensation, we make sure that our pay rates meet or exceed the minimum wage requirements set by Santa Clara County. Additionally, we go the extra mile by offering additional benefits, including reimbursement for transportation to and from work. This not only supports our employees’ financial well-being but also underscores our commitment to ensuring their accessibility to work.

Central to our success are the exceptional job coaches who are an integral part of our e-commerce team. These dedicated professionals play a pivotal role in our organization, serving as mentors, teachers, and trainers. Their role goes beyond simply overseeing tasks; they work closely with each employee to identify their strengths and areas of interest, guiding them to find the best-fitting roles that align with their unique skills and passions.

Our employees undertake critical responsibilities that drive our operations forward. From managing shipping manifesting to sourcing inventory, listing products, and executing the meticulous task of picking and packing orders, their contributions are indispensable to our success. Every aspect of our daily operations is enhanced by their dedication and commitment.

Perhaps the most significant point of pride is that our employees are the final touchpoint for each order before it reaches our valued online customers. This remarkable responsibility underscores their importance in ensuring the quality and accuracy of every shipment. With an astounding 99.99% accuracy rate across 6,000 to 8,000 individual orders shipped on a monthly basis, our employees demonstrate their commitment to excellence and attention to detail.

In essence, Green Street Books goes beyond being just a business. We are a haven of empowerment, inclusivity, and innovation. By providing meaningful employment opportunities for neurodiverse individuals, we not only contribute to their personal growth but also redefine the standards of what an effective, compassionate, and successful workforce can be.
